Durham is getting its first official beer mile!

*REGISTER NOW!*

We put our heads together with Jason and Kim over at Bull City Running Co. to figure out how we could (legally) host a beer mile as an official event in Durham. We know a lot about beer, and they certainly know a lot about running and hosting races, so who better to put together this inaugural Bull City event!?

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 23, 2022! Registration is open now, and you can register as an individual or as a 2-person or 2-person relay team. Register early to get the discounted rate before prices increase!

What is a Beer Mile?

The race will consist of drinking a 12-ounce beer, running a 0.25-mile lap around Durham Central Park, drinking another beer, running another lap, another beer, another lap, one more beer, and one more lap - for a total of four beers and four laps (1 mile).

The race will be timed by Bull City Running and we (of course) will be brewing and serving the official Bull City Beer Mile beer, which will be a nice, crushable, 5% ABV beer that will be purposefully designed for this event. It will also be available for purchase in commemorative Beer Mile 16-oz cans to-go!

We’ve organized the race to be run in many heats throughout the afternoon. We’ve rented out Durham Central Park so that we can bring in food trucks and live music for the duration of the event. We’ll also be serving up beer in the park and selling official Bull City Beer Mile merchandise for participants and spectators, alike! So, bring your friends to cheer you on, and make plans to hang out and enjoy the day while watching all of the runners complete their mile.

Many more details will be posted in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to learn more about the food trucks, live music, the official beer, and maybe even a friendly beer mile competition amongst the local breweries!

You can follow the event on Facebook and register to compete today!
