9-Hole Disc Golf Putting Course Added at RTP

Installation is now complete on a brand new 9-hole disc golf putting course that winds through the woods behind the beer garden at The Glass Jug Beer Lab in RTP!

“With the ever-growing popularity of disc golf, along with the always-fun Monday night putting league that has called Glass Jug home for 7 years, it just made sense to invest in a permanent course that can be played anytime,” said Chris Creech, Co-Owner and Director of Brewing Operations.

The newly-constructed course showcases a 9-hole layout utilizing 9 tee pads and 5 Innova DiscCatcher Pro baskets. Play is quick with a variety of challenging shots, elevation changes, and trees to play around. It presents a fun challenge for all skill levels.

“We wanted a course that could be used for our league night, but would also be welcoming for new players, while providing enough challenge and variability for more experienced disc golfers,” Creech added. “This course is a great way to really perfect your putting in a variety of situations.”

Guests can warm-up by putting into the practice basket located in the beer garden. From there, the course begins with tee pad #1, located in the corner of the beer garden where golfers will toss across the service road and follow the path into the woods.

The course is open the same hours as the taproom, and there are a few rules in place to protect everyones safety and to comply with local ABC laws:

  1. Please park in the main/front parking lot. The parking in the rear of the building is only for staff and delivereis. You will access the course by walking through the Glass Jug taproom. Feel free to refill your water bottle or purchase some beverages while you’re here.

  2. No outside alcohol is allowed on the course. If you want to enjoy an alcoholic beverage before/after your round, you must purchase it from The Glass Jug.

  3. Don’t bring your glassware with you on the course. Leave it in the beer garden. It’s a putting course, so you’ll be back for another sip every few holes!

A few tips to help you master the course:

  • All you need is your putter. Leave the driver in your bag.

  • Each hole is approximately 35-75 feet in distance.

  • Asphalt is considered out of bounds. Drop to the nearest ground with a 1-stroke penalty. This will likely only come into play on holes #1, 5, 6, and possibly 9.

  • Tee pads are yellow markers with black numbers. The orange markers are for our Monday evening league play which utilizes a slightly different course layout with temporary baskets.

  • Loaner discs are available to borrow from the taproom, and a variety of custom stamped Innova and Dynamic Discs are available for purchase.
